Sometimes I want to shout it to the rooftops. “Let’s get rational!” While rationality does not render every situation suitable for a HECM loan, inaccurate evaluation of the program and the credence given to myths and misconceptions still inhibits “the public” in a harmful way. Seeing a perfect candidate reject a program that would be such a blessing to them and their family because of irrational fears is so disappointing! I have helped a lot of people to improve their lives but I guess I can’t convince them all. Thankfully, Financial Advisors, Elder Law attorneys, CPAs, Realtors, traditional Loan Officers and other professionals are now on board, because they took a rational look at the HECM program and can’t deny it’s value for some clients.
